Verify delivery

Run the end-to-end proof after installation and after any credential, endpoint, or egress change:

sudo constellation-agent verify

Success:

READY: telemetry proof verify-1785965782-5015 was read back

verify writes a uniquely identified proof metric to the live socket and polls topology until it reads the same proof back. It tests socket access, parsing, buffering, authentication, remote ingest, and topology projection.

Two failures isolate the broken half:

Output	Meaning
telemetry socket is missing	The Fleet Agent is stopped or did not create its socket. Run sudo constellation-agent status.
metric was written locally but proof … was not read back	Local handoff worked; delivery, authentication, ingest, or readback failed. Run sudo constellation-agent logs.

To validate configuration without touching the live socket:

sudo constellation-agent test

Expected output:

testing installed configuration against a scratch socket (live socket untouched)
configuration OK

verify proves the Fleet Agent path. To verify your own metric, query topology for its entity_id or confirm it in the console.
